NBC 5 DFW Today's Elsa Ramon interviewed Wednesday one of the remaining two in the finale of "Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Model Search," which airs at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Elsa: NBC is so generously helping Sports Illustrated find the next great swimsuit supermodel and tonight is the finale. Joining us is North Texas-native and contestant Shannon from Mesquite. Hello, Shannon ... Tonight's the finale. It's down to two of you, how are you feeling?

Shannon: I'm anxious, because you know we've been waiting, just anticipation, just -- I want to know because we've shot this back in September. I've been home, just waiting, and tonight we find out.

Elsa: Did you ever think you were going to be involved in something like this? A lot of people are watching this and waiting for the finale tonight.

Shannon: I would kind of compare it to the Super Bowl, because it's kind of the Super Bowl of modeling. I never thought that I could ever get this, it was in my dreams, but I mean you can't just walk into Sports Illustrated and say 'I want to be in your magazine.' This has been an opportunity that's just once in a lifetime.

Elsa: I'm sure the opportunity just to get on the show was real intense ... because I can't even imagine the level of competition and the number of girls that showed up just to try to be on the show.

Shannon: Thousands of girls tried out from the United States and from Puerto Rico, and then we just went to each audition and we got nailed down and they called me on Sept. 10 and I left on Sept. 11.

Elsa: So, what has it been like on the show? You've got to wonder if you are on the outside looking in. You are looking at a show full of absolutely gorgeous women who are all vying for a very coveted spot with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

Shannon: The girls all in this competition were very tough, we all wanted this, we've all been dreaming for it and put in a lot of work into it, a lot of dedication, and we each deserve it. Right now it's down to the final two: it's myself and Alicia Hall, and who knows, we'll see who America chose.

Elsa: Aside from that, how was it really ... working and taping with all those girls who are vying for this very coveted spot? Did you guys get along?

Shannon: We actually, we got along pretty well, I mean ... I've never lived with girls before so I kind of thought it was going to be hard, a little difficult, but we actually got along really, really well, I mean there wasn't a whole lot of cattiness or a whole lot of fighting, we were all there for a reason, and in this kind of competition we couldn't really sabotage the other one. Basically, I just looked at myself and was worried about how I competed in this.

Elsa: Which is all you can really do ... you've got to worry about yourself and try to be the best person you can be while you are there.

Shannon: Exactly.

Elsa: Shannon, thank you so much for joining us and we look forward to seeing the finale tonight, right here, on NBC 5 at 7 p.m.
