Willie and Majaliwan Bass are so passionate about preserving the earth that they set up their own recycling business: Debass Recycling.

"It literally came up just like that: What if we did it? What if we provided the service?" Majaliwa Bass said.

In addition to working full time, the newlyweds collect recyclables from small businesses, apartments and condos. They saw a need because many cities don't offer the service to multifamily complexes.

"If you just make that effort, it's just a split second ... once you start making an effort the change that comes about," Willie Bass said. "You know if you live in an apartment complex that's what we are here for; we are the ones that are providing you that option."

As the word spreads about their service, they are receiving positive feedback.

"(It is) very convenient, very convenient. We just put it in our blue box and leave it outside, and that's all there is to it," Tina Harrison said. "They send you reminders and very personal service, very one-on-one. I feel like they are friends."

The recycling business keeps the husband-and-wife team very busy.

"It's a good program, and we are getting more people to join in and recycle too, and it's going well," said Kristin Munson, general manager of The Terrace Condo.

At this time, Debass Recycling said it can serve only Dallas County because of its staff size.
