Acupuncture Trades Needles For Lasers

Many people think about needles when thinking about acupuncture, but acupuncturists said a new procedure is faster and easier.

Aqua Medical Spa in DallasÂ’ Dr. Susana Mendez said the lasers she uses for acupuncture trigger the bodyÂ’s own healing response and restore its natural balance.

“The patients feel more calm more relaxed and in tune with themselves,” she said.

Karri Lynn, of Carrollton, began using laser acupuncture for stress. She said three weeks of treatment have her sleeping better than ever.

“Just be able to be focused more on holistic ways to diffuse instead of unhealthy ways to diffuse," she said.

Laser acupuncture is approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat pain. Treatments range from $60 to $80.
