Acupuncture May Relieve PMS

Some North Texas women are turning to acupuncture to obtain relief for premenstrual syndrome, or PMS.

Rochelle Mercier said she suffered from painful cramping for years, but found that one acupuncture session is enough to alleviate the pain, as well as bloating.

Licensed acupuncturist Iva Lim Peck said PMS pain is caused by a stagnation of energy caused by stress, work and unhealthy lifestyles that, according to traditional Chinese medicine, clogs up the liver pathway.

Peck said her goal is to regulate the energy flow of the whole entire body.

NBC 5 reported that a recent study indicated 93 percent of women who tried acupuncture experienced relief.
