Meningitis Death Prompts Concern At Dallas School

Parents worried about a health risk at a Dallas middle school gathered to get the facts straight Wednesday night.

A teacher left Kiest Elementary School sick Friday and died the next day from bacterial meningitis.

Dallas school board member Ron Price and health officials tried to calm the fears of parents at an emergency meeting Wednesday night.

The Dallas County Health Department said students are not at risk, but some parents aren't convinced.

"My son being in the third grade, down the hall, and that was my concern, he's asthmatic, and he can catch a lot of things," parent Charity Gaulding said.

The health department said there is no need for parents to pull their kids out of school.
