North Texans Cope With Increasing Gas Prices

GARLAND, Texas -- North Texans are dealing with pain at the pump as they pay higher and higher prices for gas.On Monday, crude oil settled at $117 a barrel, a new high, and according to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded topped $3.50.When adjusted for inflation, it is the highest Americans have ever paid for gas. North Texans are spending $100 more a month on gas -- an estimate that's on the conservative side.
In Garland, regular unleaded went for $3.40 on Monday, 3 cents cheaper than the Dallas-Fort Worth average.Patrick Masoner said the pain of filling up his 20-gallon tank is excruciating."I've actually been carpooling with some of my friends to school because it's been that expensive," he said.
