The player, Chris Gavora, was warming up for the game against Lake Dallas.Shane Eidson, the varsity football coach at the school, said the player was pitching just behind the cage, and that the ball came from behind him in another cage. Somehow, the ball pierced through the two nets and hit him on the back of the head, he said."For it to be in a batting cage like that, it's a real tragedy," Eidson said.A Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District representative said trainers provided medical care until the ambulance arrived at the field."From what I've heard, his vitals are good," Eidson said. "His breathing is not very good right now."The school district canceled the junior varsity and varsity home games."All of the kids have grown up together, gone to the same middle schools, like any other team in America," Eidson said. "It's a very tight-knit thing."
