Clean up continued Saturday after a diesel fuel spill turned a North Texas creek blood red.

The discolored water was reported Friday morning in Grassy Branch Creek, located near County Road 511 between Mansfield and Venus.

Environmental crews said the spill originated in a fuel storage tank at a natural gas well that is only a few months old. Officials said about 5,000 gallons spilled into the creek after a fuel pump seal began leaking.

The fuel floats on top of the water, so crews were cleaning it up with vacuums and large absorbent clothes.

Officials said the spill is contained, but expected the cleaning to continue through the day Saturday.
