Cowboys Announce Featured Performer At Thanksgiving Day Halftime Concert

DALLAS -- The Dallas Cowboys announced on Thursday that two-time Grammy Award winning singer Kelly Clarkson will be the featured performer at this year's Thanksgiving Day Red Kettle Kick-Off Concert.The Burleson native is the original winner of "American Idol." Clarkson last performed live on TV during the NFL Opening Kickoff special on Sept. 6 in Indianapolis.The Cowboys take on the New York Jets on Nov. 22 at Texas Stadium in Irving.
Other performers at the annual Thanksgiving game halftime show included Carrie Underwood, Destiny's Child, Sheryl Crow and Jessica Simpson.The Salvation Army Red Kettle Christmas campaign is the longest-running annual fundraiser of its kind in the country. Since the Kettle Kick-off Concert started in 1997, the combined efforts of The Salvation Army and the Cowboys have raised upward of $1 billion, which were used to provide food, clothing, money for heating bills, rent and a variety of other social services.
