Nicole George said she came home last Thursday to a quiet apartment instead of the sound of her two boisterous cockatoos.
George said when she went to check the birds' cages, they were locked but the birds were missing. She said thieves broke into the apartment in the 300 block of West Sixth Street through a window that holds the air conditioning unit. The birds and a pair of pillowcases were the only things missing.George said she has had one bird for eight years and other for 16. She's asking whoever stole them to bring them back, with no questions asked."I hope they feel bad about what they did, because it's not right," George said. "For anybody, if they have pets they had as a child, they wouldn't want something like that to happen to them."So far there are no good leads in the case, but George has placed a cage on the front stoop of her apartment in hopes that the thieves will return them.
