NBC5i.com Reveals 2007's Most Popular Stories

POSTED: 3:11 pm CST December 31, 2007

NBC5i.com covered hundreds of memorable stories in 2007, but five stories --which range from hard news to entertainment, with a dash of weird news in between -- clicked the most with viewers.

A massive spider web captured so many viewer clicks it comes in as NBC5i.com's No. 5 most popular story of 2007. The two giant spider webs that formed at Lake Tawakoni drew worldwide attention in October. The spider webs covered hundreds of feet and were the collaboration of possibly thousands of spiders, experts said.

An outfit and later disrobing came in as NBC5i.com's fourth most popular story. The skirt that was too short for a Southwest Airlines flight created a long interest in a California woman in November. Kyla Ebbert, 23, gained attention after she was asked to get off a flight and change her clothes because her outfit was too revealing. She appeared in Playboy magazine online after a round of media interviews that included NBC's "Today" show, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Dr. Phil."

A gas plant explosion rocked Dallas and gained the No. 3 spot on NBC5i.com's most popular story list. The explosions at an industrial plant on the morning of July 25 injured three people and shut down Interstate 35E and Interstate 30 near downtown Dallas. The smoke and fire also forced evacuations within a half-mile of the area.

Dallas Cowboy Terrell Owens' big Hollywood-style birthday bash in Grapevine made a touchdown landing the No. 2 most popular story slot. Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx was among the celebrities who appeared for the Cowboys wide receiver's birthday party on Dec. 3 at the Gaylord Texan. The event dubbed, "A December To Remember," raised money for 81 families in need.

A Haltom City homeowner who remained homeless after her back yard slid into Big Fossil Creek after devastating floods grabbed the most attention as NBC5i.com's No. 1 story for 2007. Layla Caraway was just one several North Texas homeowners who were worried their homes may wash away after their back yards collapsed into a creek. A retaining wall and fence gave way along big Fossil Creek in Haltom City after persistent rains in June of 2007.

Which do you think should be the most popular story from 2007?
