Dallas Man Shoots, Kills Burglar

DALLAS -- A Dallas man who shot and killed a burglar Wednesday will not face charges because he was protecting his family's property, police said.Police said the man was driving by his parents' house in the 2200 block of Scotland Drive at about 6 a.m. Wednesday when he saw someone breaking into their shed."He came down through here to check on them, that's when he seen somebody in the little shed," said Tonya Finn, the shooter's sister.
Police said after the homeowner's son confronted the man, the two started fighting and the burglar was shot and killed.Neighbors said after the man was shot, he ran through an alley and down a street before finally collapsing.Police said the man was taken to Methodist Medical Center, where he later died.Finn said the neighborhood has been plagued with problems. "Lately it's been a lot of drive-bys and stuff like that, and I just said, 'Mama, I just pray don't let nothing happen,'" she said.
