ARLINGTON, Texas -- Arlington city officials said they are considering a ban on lightweight plastic bags to cut down on litter. An Arlington City Council subcommittee announced its support of the plan in a Tuesday night meeting. The subcommittee will now forward the issue to the full council for consideration.
The city will have to notify business owners who would have to switch to reusable or paper bags, so it could be six to eight months before the ordinance takes effect.
