A Dallas woman said she feared for her life after robbers kicked in her door in the middle of the night, NBC 5 reported.

The break-in happened at about 2 a.m. Monday at the Colorado Place apartments on Fort Worth Avenue in Oak Cliff, police said.

Tirithia Washington, 25, lives alone and said the break-in has made her realize she needs a gun for protection.

Washington said she was in such a deep sleep when she heard someone trying to break in that she thought she was dreaming. As the noises got louder she said she woke up and realized she was in danger. She ran into her kitchen, but by then suspects had kicked in her front door, she said.

She ran into her pantry to hide, not knowing that the noise she made while closing the panty's door scared the robbers off.

"I ran in the closet and hid. I was balled up and shaking and I couldn't move," Washington said.

Washington said she saw two males escape in a gray car and then she called police.

Dallas police said they have no suspects in the incident.
