PLANO, Texas -- Friends and family created a makeshift memorial Monday on the center median where a minivan came rest after a collision that killed three children and two adults.The Hart family was heading home from church when they were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Sunday morning in Plano, police said.Witnesses said a black Pontiac that ran a red light struck a gray minivan at the intersection of Legacy Drive and Custer Road at about 11 a.m. The driver of the Pontiac was speeding, according to witnesses.
Police said Geoff and Christy Hart; their daughter Rebekah, 12; and two foster children, Kevinnisha Palmer, 6, and Raven Lucas, 5; inside the minivan were killed. Two of the children were taken to the hospital, where they died.Kevinnisha and Raven had been in the care of the Harts for two weeks.
Hart Family Remembered
The family had just left Custer Road United Methodist Church, where Christy worked, at the time of the crash. When the Pontiac hit the minivan, it went flying into a truck that was stopped at the light."This is hurting," church youth director Marcus George said. "I want to go home and go to bed and say, 'Oh, that was just a dream. That really didn't happen.'"The driver of the Pontiac was in critical condition in the hospital, police said.Crews said the wreck was one of the worst they could remember."If we have a loss of life of one or two, it's horrific and affects us all," said Andrae Smith, Plano police public information officer. "But with the multitude of life lost at this scene, it's just devastating."

Custer Road United Methodist Church held a vigil Sunday evening for the Harts who died."We're all devastated," pastor Ronald Henderson said. "We're expressing our humanity, our vulnerability to being humans. But at the same time, we're firm in our faith in God."Two other vehicles were also involved in the wreck. The driver of one vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The fourth car suffered only minor damage.Police said the driver of the Pontiac may face several charges in connection with the crash.
