FORT WORTH, Texas -- Authorities said a man suspected of assaulting his girlfriend is in custody after a shootout with police Thursday morning.Denton County Sheriff’s spokesman Tom Reedy said they responded at about 7:40 a.m. to the home in the 900 block of Doc Holiday Road near Sanger after a 911 call saying a man was beating his girlfriend.A shootout ensued between the suspect and police at about 8 a.m., Reedy said.
Reedy said the suspect surrendered about 10 minutes after the first shots were fired.The suspect is in custody and suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, Reedy said.Reedy said no one else was injured in the incident, but the girlfriend had a broken foot.
