TROPHY CLUB, Texas -- Residents in Trophy Club now keep a keener watch over their pets. The increased surveillance stems from concerns about suspected coyote attacks in the small North Texas town.An 800-acre plot of undeveloped land, called the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Reserve Area, is home to hundreds of coyotes. [CORRECTION: Erroniosly reported by nbc5i.com as thousands].Residents think the coyotes roam out from the area and into neighborhoods looking for food. Small pets can be prime targets for wild predators.

The cat's neck was broken."It concerns me, not just for our animals because they are family members, but it concerns me for other people I know who have animals," Taylor said.Taylor's cat was the third reported coyote attack within the last few weeks.Animal control agents advise pet owners to keep their cats and dogs inside because the coyotes have been reported to jump over fences.
