Officers On School Patrol May Carry Taser Guns

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Police officers who patrol the halls in the Fort Worth Independent School District could soon be armed with Taser guns.According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, school officials are worried about whether the devices are safe to use on children.The district's agreement with the Fort Worth Police Department calls for officers to have all their standard equipment, including Taser guns.
The paper reports that 54 officers are stationed in Fort Worth schools and that the Taser guns pack a 50,000-volt punch when discharged.
